CINESPECIE



CINESPECIE is an Audiovisual Production Company based in Chile, focused on developing and creating documentary, experimental, and hybrid films. We are interested in cinema as a means to subvert hegemonic discourses on sex, gender and desire by weaving stories of diverse people and communities that destabilize their social and political contexts. Our films have been awarded and widely distributed at international festivals, as well as in cultural, educational, and social organizations.


 



Nicolás Videla

Filmmaker, artist, and educator. Their films explore intimacy, affectivity and memory, highlighting sexual dissident subjectivities through devices such as staging, archives and performance. They work as director, producer, screenwriter, editor, and photographer. They have made the feature films NAOMI CAMPBELL, THE DEVIL’S MAGNIFICENT, TRAVESTI ODYSSEY and, currently, MADAME WITTMANN’S CRIMINAL RECORDS. They have also produced projects by other artists and filmmakers, such as the short films VIRAL OCEANS, MARIA THREE NUTS, and the feature films MORDANT and DYSPHORIA FOOTBALL CLUB.




Kevin Magne


Dancer, performer, and researcher in performance and audiovisual arts. They have a master’s degree in art, Critical Thinking and Latin American Culture. Since 2014, they’ve worked on issues related to corporality, both individual and collective, problematizing the affective weavings in relation to seropositivity (0+). Producer of the feature films TRAVESTI ODYSSEY and MADAME WITTMANN’S CRIMINAL RECORDS. Also, they are director and producer of the short film VIRAL OCEANS and the conference between Cinema and Arts within hiv, SEROPOSITIVE INSURGENCY.




Andre Millán


Filmmaker from the University of Chile, where she began to experiment with sound recording and creation. In her projects, she dives into the language of sound in each work, unfolding the sensitive, perceptive and vibratory potential of the invisibility of space in cinema. Since 2012, she has worked in the productions for independent and auteur films, creating direct sound, sound design and sound direction in films such as the documentary TRAVESTI ODYSSEY. She’s currently working on the projects: MADAME WITTMANN’S CRIMINAL RECORDS, MORDANT and MARIA THREE NUTS.






Anastasia Benavente

Writer, activist and linguist. She has a master’s degree in Gender and Cultural Studies, and currently she’s a doctoral student in Latin American Studies from the University of Chile in co-supervision with the University of Buenos Aires. Technical advisor at the Chilean Trans Syndicate and Corporation "Amanda Jofré". She has produced literary works such as graphic novels, chronicles and book prologues. Protagonist and script advisor of the feature film TRAVESTI ODYSSEY. She is currently working as co-director, screenwriter and researcher for MADAME WITTMANN’S CRIMINAL RECORDS.





Gabriel Larenas

Poet, bachelor’s degree in Aesthetics and Literature from the Catholic University of Chile, currently, doctoral student in Literature at the same university. He has created literary workshops since 2009, such as the Erotic Writing Laboratory, and GORE, workshop that intercrosses poetry and horror cinema from a sexual dissidence point of view. He’s now working on a poetry book made from film subtitles as @poemaycine. He’s been a montage advisor for the feature film TRAVESTI ODYSSEY, as well as translator and subtitler for the short films VIRAL OCEANS, MARIA THREE NUTS, and the feature film MADAME WITTMANN’S CRIMINAL RECORDS.



Nicole Bonilla

Audiovisual producer with experience in documentary, fiction, and music videos. She was coordinator of international programs for the Audiovisual Promotion Fund and the Chile Film Friendly Program for the Chile Film Commission of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Patrimony. She currently works as an operational coordinator at Screen Capital S.A. She’s founder of La Madre production company, where she seeks to brings the realities of female identities to the fore, contributing to create a more just, empathetic, and free society. Executive producer of the feature films TRAVESTI ODYSSEY and MADAME WITTMANN’S CRIMINAL RECORDS.







Clio Dinamarca

Director, screenwriter, and editor, with a degree in Audiovisual Direction from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Through documentary and autobiographical work, he explores gender identity focusing on audiovisual construction through opacities, miscellaneousness and error. Among his productions are the short films LATE SUMMER (2021) and THE SHADOW I LIVE IN (2022). He’s currently an audiovisual filmmaker at CINESPECIE. He’s directing his first feature films MORDANT and working as a production assistant for DYSPHORIA FOOTBALL CLUB.





Carolina Cheuquepán


Actress, performer, and director with experience in theater and audiovisual media. She holds a degree in Performing Arts and Education from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She’s currently directing her first short film, MARÍA THREE NUTS, at CINESPECIE. The film is a first-person reflection on masculinity and Chilean idiosyncrasy, inspired by her artistic work as a Drag King performer.




Inti Lorca


Director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He graduated as a Filmmaker at the Mayor University of Chile. His work focuses on documentary filmmaking, exploring the diversity and realities of the trans and non-binary community in Chile through an intimate and personal approach. His films include short films such as INTI (2018) and DYSPHORIA FOOTBALL CLUB (2021), the latter awarded at FIDOCS 2022 and the Platino Awards 2021. He’s currently directing DYSPHORIA FOOTBALL CLUB as a feature film at CINESPECIE.
