Director’s Bio & Filmography

In “María Three Nuts” the director takes us on an intimate journey through her own diesel-dyke identity and her Mapuche ancestry. Using autofiction as a narrative tool, the film immerses us in Chilean idiosyncrasy, exploring the tensions of masculinity and femininity through a fable-like narration and the exercise of Drag King performance.
As the director explores the archives of her own family history, she confronts a series of stereotypes of Chilean masculinity, challenging and dismantling each one with humor. But the biggest challenge is yet to come: preparing to dance the purrún, a traditional Mapuche dance, reserved exclusively for men.
